SPECIAL REPORT: Talking to kids about Christchurch

Friday, 15 March 2019, marks the day that New Zealand lost its innocence. The Christchurch massacre is one of the most extreme acts of terrorism the world has seen in recent times.

It was an unconscionable act of violence that many adults, let alone children, struggled to understand and comprehend. This horrific event may adversely affect some children for many years to come, emphasising the importance of understanding the signs of trauma. It is always advisable to seek medical or professional help, should you have any concerns for your child’s wellbeing.

This devastating event will never be forgotten, and nor should we allow it to permanently disturb or destroy our young people.
